Maybe we are not so far apart. Yes, there is corruption on a grand scale in both parties. Some ingrained in the upper echelons. And some in their functionaries in Congress. I have been disappointed in many elected representatives over the years. No more, because I have come to expect it. D(izzy) C(ity) is obviously an extremely corrosive environment. Must take superhuman character not to be seduced by the power, prestige, money, privilege and so on. I have come to believe that the seat of gov't should be spread around the country. No more than one Executive Department in any given city, etc. Maybe prevent the achievement of critical mass.

I did not patronize you about growing up, perhaps you confuse me with someone else. However, the substance of that post is nonetheless correct. More experience will likely alter some of your perceptions. That is inarguable.

I do not stand behind the Republican Party one iota. I believe they carry more guilt than the Democrats, because at least the Dems. are true to their philosophy. The Reps. are either hypocritical sellouts or as corrupt as the others or just plain weak. I never supported Bush the younger. I figured the apple couldn't fall far from the tree. But at least he talked like he loved and took pride in the USA.

Personally, I would very much like to see the emergence of a viable 3rd party.

Good post and I would also love to see a 3rd party.

used 9/11 to start an unjust war that killed 1 million iraqi civilians .
Now BRBett, that's a media number.

Just like in this article they say we killed over 6,000 civilians.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Battle_of_Fallujah

We'll I was there and for 210 days I barely saw 6,000 Iraqi's. During the invasion the ones we did see dang sure weren't roaming the streets grocery shopping. They were trying to kill us.

6,000 Civilians!?!?, any Fallujah Warrior can tell you that is a completely trumped up number.

A Million innocent civilians? Innocent? You don't really believe that.

I'll admit just like every war there is civilians deaths, but these numbers have been exploded by the Media.
Hell how can you even trust the media if they're so corrupt like politicians?? You trust them only to further your own opinion? That was a low blow meant to grab your attention ;)

The number is around 100k for civilians from that website that only adds from reports so imagine how many go unreported. Just because you were there at Fallujah and you didn't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen. The American Military is a ruthless machine and rarely sheds a tear when innocents are hurt or killed.

It's a bit odd how upset and up in arms we get about the innocent people that died on 9/11 but when we killed a lot more innocent people overseas it's like it doesn't matter.

Please mark as NWS so people will know the F Word is used frequently. I will be the first to admit American politics is not perfect. What system is better? Joe comes off as an America hater with no solutions to correct the problems he has with it.

Hitman I get it bro. I cited a number I've heard before and it can't really be documented. I then re-submitted the claim with the 'official - documented' number of iraqi civillian deaths. You seem to think it is impossible for a civ to die in iraq without it going unreported. Let's clear something up, I didn't lie to make my point - I stated a number that I've heard a lot and then I re-clarified.

I'm sorry you feel that killing innocent people is ok as long as it serves our interests overseas.

Ok that's TWICE today you've bared false witness against me via Strawman resurrection.

    Here's what I actually said.

Therefore you've definitely graduated to a special class of people in my brain housing group memory.

"innocent" is a relative term and I'm not sure you or anyone else could know to what extent anyone is innocent. IMO, in some of these conflicts, the word could be synonymous with irresponsible or fearful. if those people who are being liberated would have risen up and revolted against their oppressor on their own, would there have been less civilian death? "innocent" people always get killed in war. the fact that it always happens doesn't make it OK, but if you've got a better idea, I'm sure someone in Washington would love to hear from you.

what's your take on the A-bombs we dropped on the japs? I'm pretty sure there were civilian casualties then too.

What's the point of being the 800 lb gorilla if you're a p****?

Very true. Actually, it's counter productive. Like the big guy in school who never defended himself. He always got picked on. The little guy who acted crazy? Everyone left him alone. :D

Stalin and Hitler are awesome. I especially liked the part where they slaughtered lots of innocent people. *sigh* Why can't we follow their lead, more?
