If all you’re doing is shooting a 300 blackout, I would get the Ruger American. They make one in a 16 inch barrel configuration that is factory threaded. It’s an awesome, quiet, fun little gun to play with.
Did you specifically buy 300blk mags because the standard 556 mags weren’t working for you? Was it a bullet profile issue? I’ve run everything from 110gr to 220s through mine with stock .556 mags without a hitch?

I brought my CX4 to Bayou Teche Guns in Arnaudville. The smith there does very nice work. The CX4 requires a special barrel tool to remove it from the receiver. Teche Guns has the correct tool. Cost was $110 w/ a thread protector if I remember correctly. He had it completed inside of 10 days.

I carry a 1911 in a versa max ii. When I get in my I truck I either leave it holstered or I jam it in between the leather seats and the center console. Works great for me. Retention is good too.
