      Renewal of CCW

I had a Georgia CCW for decades and renewal process was much easier. Louisiana makes it much harder and costs much more. Also having to live here more than 15 years to qualify as a resident is ridiculous. I'm a legal LA resident in every other respect except for CCW.

      Stuck bullets

I don't want to re-use anything; too corroded. How about soaking them in mineral spirits? That would be cheaper than WD-40.

      Stuck bullets

I just found about 30 rounds of old .357 Magnum JHP ammo that's corroded. I tried to disassemble the rounds using a Quinetics bullet puller, but the bullets won't come out of the brass. I kept banging on one round until the lead actually came out of its jacket, but the jacket stayed in the...

New York attorney general sues to dissolve the NRA

The NRA's Gang of Four is being sued as well: Vice President Wayne LaPierre, General Counsel and Secretary John Frazer, former Chief Financial Officer Wilson "Woody" Phillips and former Chief of Staff and Executive Director of General Operations Josh Powell. In a separate lawsuit, the NRA...

      AR-10 question

Thanks for info! But I googled the LE901 and its MSRP is $2600. For that price, I'd rather get an AR-10 and an AR-15.

      Chinese SKS

I bought SKS about10 years ago. Had chrome lined bore and very accurate with my hand loads: Accurate 1680 and 123/125 gr JSPs. Enjoy it!

      AR-10 question

Thanks for the info. Guess I just have to buy AR-10 and -15.

      AR-10 question

I'd like to buy an AR-10 so I can shoot 7.64x39mm and 6.5 Creedmoor. Besides barrel, bolt and magazines, what other parts do I need to shoot 5.56mm in the AR-10?

      More Trouble at NRA

First Oliver North was kicked out as NRA's President. Now Chris Cox and his top assistant have been suspended. As a member-supported organization, NRA needs to be transparent so that we know our dues and donations are being properly spent. But it seems as if Wayne LaPierre wants to keep that...

      New Sniper Book

I just finished reading a great book "Long Shot" by Azad Cudi. He was a Kurdish sniper who fought against ISIS when they invaded his homeland. He describes the war in the streets against ISIS in northern Syria (historic Kurdistan). The book also has lots of great info about the Kurdish people...

      hunting or shooting

I stand by what I said: 500+ yard shots are not fair chase. And that's not just my opinion; here's the Boone & Crockett Club statement on fair chase: THE PRINCIPLES OF FAIR CHASE FAIR CHASE, as defined by the Boone and Crockett Club, is the ethical, sportsmanlike, and lawful pursuit and taking...

      Amateur Radio !!!

Definitely study and get your Technician license. But while you're doing that, buy a CB radio/antenna. You can start chatting right away. No license needed. BUT, don't let the wife and kids be nearby while you're on CB. There's some "colorful" language used by some CBers.

      open carrier arrested

I got my concealed carry permit in 1978 and joined the NRA that same year. Even back then, open carrying a pistol/revolver turned heads. 40 years later, after all we (Americans) have experienced, there's only one word for a person who openly carries a rifle and a pistol in any major city...

      hunting or shooting

Hunting season is fast approaching, so it's time again to talk about long-range hunting vs shooting. Back in 2009 when this thread first started, nobody mentioned "fair chase." Long cross-canyon shots on sheep or goats require stalking and skilled shooting, AND those animals can see hunters a...
