      The average CCW issue time?

It's hard to say for sure what the reasons are. I handed in my paper application at the LSP and got digital fingerprinting done at HQ. It took a little over 2 months from hand in to CHP in hand. While not the fastest turn around, it seems like a reasonable time frame considering the enormous...

CCW free for Honorably Discharged Veterans.

Isn't that the same thing? I know the LSP site refers to it as a CHP since it's for handguns specifically, but is there something I'm missing?

      Cross eyes dominant

I agree with the others. I am left-handed, but right eye-dominant. I had to shoot rifles right handed in the army. I shoot pistols right or left-handed. It's fairly easy to adjust. It's probably not a bad idea to encourage him to build up his grip strength in his non-dominant hand too. I...

Thanks for the information. And thanks for your wife's work.

      Lifetime carry permit

That's good advice. I also recommend getting to the range as often as finances allow. Doesn't hurt to date and save the silhouettes either. God forbid you should ever need to use your firearm in self defense, but if you did it's good to show that you maintain proficiency.

      Lifetime carry permit

I got a lifetime permit since I am prior military and I wouldn't have to pay the fees for it. Did that mostly in case they decide to take away that privilege and start charging fees for it again. Will still need to take a renewal class every 5 years and submit that to the LSP though.

Handed in Packet Mid September Received permit in mail 1 December Not as bad as I thought it would be. The rumors that they have hired more people to process applications must be true.

      The average CCW issue time?

As far as I know they have to mail you a letter explaining why you were denied if it's not approved. If you get zero correspondence after a reasonable amount of time, then call or e-mail them. The thing is, they were backlogged a lot. Some people's CHP was taking up to 10 months for approval...

Wait time for prints at LSP headquarters

If you can get in there first thing in the morning, you shouldn't have to wait more than 10-15 minutes.

      What would you do?

Little anecdote here. I work in a place where an angry ex-husband walked in and killed his estranged wife. Oh, and it was a no-carry zone. He just walked up to the front desk and shot her 3 times in the chest. He did end up taking his own life, but what a tragic series of events. I would...

What kind of BS is Louisiana pulling?

Seems to be fairly common with the online apps. My wife's app took longer for mailing the cards than it did get approved. Me, on the other hand, I did the paper application. It will probably be 10 months before I get the card.

      Polling place carry

I probably wouldn't, because the law seems pretty straightforward. Since it's a polling place, it's a no carry zone. That being said, I can see how one could question it. Would probably require further investigation about that specific YMCA.

      The average CCW issue time?

It doesn't actually specify a deadline. *Timely and without delay* (La. Rev. Stat. § 40.1379.3(H)(2)) Is how it reads. Several states do, but Louisiana is one of them that does not.

I'm not usually one to ascribe to conspiracy theories, but I think they will shuffle apps around based on any number of reasons. If someone calls asking about how long it's taking or if they just don't like the style of handwriting. (In the case of handwritten apps.) That's the problem with...

      DENIED

http://www.lsp.org/pdf/ch15LegislativeReport.pdf Page 38 has a list of all of the reasons for people being denied. The most likely reasons are incomplete applications. Did you make sure to upload a copy of your driver's license and certification of training?
