So I finally have ordered my 1000 yard gun.
    It's a Savage LRP in 260 Rem.

I really like Leupold scopes, but recently I bought a Nikon and a Weaver Grand Slam and was impressed with the quality for the $$$.

    Here's what I'm looking for:

Variable Power at least up to 20x

    Side Focus

    Mil-Dot or other ranging reticle

    .10 Mil adustments

I'd like to buy a Schmitt & Bender or a Night Force, but I'm trying to keep it under $1000.

    Suggestion Please.

Welllll.....for under a grand your not getting S&B or NF. But save a bit more and you can probably get a used NF in the $1300-$1500 range (Joe if you got over a 10x at that price you robbed somebody ) but not first focal plane. If your just shooting static long range (F class or FPR or the like) FFP is not a big deal. But, if you want to shoot "sniper" matches\ tactical comps, you will want the FFP. I have read good things about the newer line of Bushnell's with FFP but no personal experience yet. Thoughts from here. Good luck.

I got that 2.5-10-32 with Zero Stop for $1050 LNIB

Ray's probably looking for more power. I had a 3.5-15-56 and sold it ( but not for a grand) to buy another 2.5-10, my eyes like the 10 power a lot better, its brighter, nothing wrong with the 3.5-15 tho

Either will work just make sure the scope has enough adjustment that will be required for the range you intend to shoot.

1 click with 1/4 MOA/click adjustments (that is what the majority of MOA turrets are) moves your POI .26 inches at 100 yards.

1 click with 0.1 MIL/click (again what most MIL turrets are) moves your POI .36 inches at 100 yards.

So the MIL is more coarse of an adjustment than MOA.

WHATEVER YOU GO WITH MATCH THE RETICAL AND TURRETS. MIL/MIL OR MOA/MOA!!!
    NO MIL retical /MOA turrets!
