I did, but it's not exactly a fast process, so don't expect a new update every couple days. There's not much to say.

There's a 1000 yard public range on Fort Polk. Or so I've been told by a few folks.

I think it's a great idea. There is another 1000 yard range in LA in Desoto Parish, Long Range Alley, unless it has closed in the last couple of years. I used to shoot there. Think about Livingston Parish for a location. There is nowhere to shoot a rifle out here. You can count on me as a member.

Unless it has been changed, I think Livingston parish has an ordinance on the books that would make it very unlikely you would be successful building a range there.

I shoot at Ft. Polk at least once a week at the public shooting range. They do not have a 1000 yard range, only go out to 500. Also have skeet, trap, 5 stand, pistol and rifle ranges. These ranges are covered and have shooting benches and cost $5.00 to use these for the day. Trap, skeet, and 5 stand are different prices. It is open Thursday-Sunday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Nice place and good folks in charge of it. Stonewall Willie

Just shot at Eymards Shooting Academy Sunday. 825 yards; steel gongs; well equipped; well run. If you have the skills to hit consistently at 825; 1000 should be no real issue.

If one is shooting a 338 lapua.... You are correct sir, if one is shooting a 308.... It's a lot harder...
