Debated on going hunting today. My dad convinced to go and boy was I glad I did. First good buck I've taken in a long time.

And that is a young deer with a wide rack! If the deer where this guy came from has a good food source, you should have some whoppers in there if they reach 4 or 5.

Get that deer aged! Retain that jawbone (even if you are mounting it), and send it to wildlife and fisheries. PM me if you want to do it and aren't sure how.

Thanks guys! Now I'm determined to kill one with my bow. We've been in this lease for 4yrs and no one' skilled with a bow yet. The only reason I went with a gun Saturday was because it was supposed to be raining so I say in a box stand.

Yep. We have some bruisers on camera but rarely see them during daylight. Like you said, this was probably a 3 1/2" yr old and still new to the rutting ritual. He made that one mistake we all hope they do.
