1911 suggestions

Who offers a 1911 with a 4" to 4.25" barrel (commander/ champion size slide) with the standard size frame? Preferably steel.

Can they be had for under 1000?

Check the offerings at Rock Island Armory, they make two , a model CS with a 3.5 inch barrel and a model MS with a 4.25 inch barrel , both seem to be steel framed ( but double check that) . The MSRP on both is $546.00.

Kimber makes a bunch of models with 4" barrel and full size frame. If I'm not mistaken, any of their models with "Pro" in the name have those specs.

This is correct. Had a pro carry back in the day and loved it, just couldn't carry it for work so it got cut from the inventory.

I have a Kimber Stainless II and love it. Just 500 rounds through it but functions without a hitch. The Stainless II has a 5" barrel but lots of 4" - 4.5" Kimber variations out there.

Dan Wesson CCO. 4" barrel with full size grip. Steel slide & alloy frame. I got mine about a month ago and am still breaking it in. Instructions say to shoot 50 rounds and then clean the gun. I don't like to take my gun apart at the range, so I shoot it and then bring it home to the shop to clean. It does get me out the range more often, so far.

It is a sweet shooting gun. I got mine new on GunBroker for $950 which was a pretty good deal.
