I am having some trouble finding out whether or not 1911 grip screws will fit a mkIII 22/45 with removable panels. I was looking into modifying some cheap 1911 grips to fit the 22/45 if I can find some, but have read that some thicker panels will need longer screws. I am also finding conflicting info on the thread pattern of either screw.

Any info is greatly appreciated :)

    Just use your stock screws?

I think they will work for some panels, but they are very short, which may not allow them to set down far enough on grips that are any thicker than the stock ones(which are pretty thin). I also don't have any other grips or screws because I dont have a 1911. It doesn't help that I am finding conflicting info online. who would have thought... :)

What grips are you looking at? I have a set of Hogue wraparound 1911 grips that came on my 22/45 that you can have if you want them.

Oops, my bad. The hogue wraparound grips I have are actually specifically made for the 22/45. If you want them, my offer still stands.

I BELIEVE the threads are 8-32. A quick stop by your local hardware store could confirm this. Pick up a couple of machine screws in various sizes, should only be a buck or so.

Wasn't looking for anything in particular. I got a 22/45 from a member the other day and was looking into some easy mods I could do. I haven't even been to the range yet. So maybe I got a little ahead of myself, but I want to know!

Also, from my research, the hogue grips will work with the stock screws, so PM inbound :)
