There is a gas station near me that is advertising they have 22 ammo in stock. Today I decided to stop in and check see what they had. 6 - 500 round boxes of American Eagle for $100 each. I started to laugh when the cashier showed me. She then shows me a 50 round box for $18. I told her no thanks. She then asks me if I am sure as they are selling them pretty quick. I took me Little Debbie Apple pies and left the store. Truely unbeleivable.

I sold more than ten thousand of them in the fourth quarter of 2012 for approximately $3.30 per hundred.

I heard horror stories here too.

While here in Gatlinburg, we went to Bass Pro in Pigeon Forge, they didn't have any .22 bullets. They said they had some that morning but the same a-holes that come everyday early buy them for 2.50 a box, and then go sell them at the Flea Market for $15 a box. Really pisses off the guy at Bass Pro, and me too, cause I was hoping to find some while I was here. So it must be all over the country that we can't find a decent supply of .22's

It just goes to show you that there's assholes all over the country doing the same thing.

I'm sure it wasn't the DHS buying the .22 ammo up there either.

When I was growing up, .22 was a fancy pellet round. It seems now-a-days .22 is nearly worth it's weight in gold. Truly sad indeed.

Its to the point that we dont even list .22 ammo online anymore. It just goes too fast. We get some cases in and its gone within the hour. We're not jacking the prices up though. I think the last bricks of 500 were going for about $30 give or take.

I heard the US produces about 11 million .22's per day. I should go into the .22 bullet business, demand greatly outstrips supply daily for extremely high prices.

As long as someone is willing to pay, the price will stay. Once the gougers take a loss from lack of buyers, it'll go back to normal. The main problem is getting everybody on board to stop paying those stupid prices.
