I have a old 4-10 crack barrel 3" chamber I am wanting to use to carry around in my buggy while riding around. Wanting to use it for snakes and if I come across a hog or coyote. Whats the best to use Slug, 4 shot, 5 shot?

I have a 410 Snake Charmer, and it patterns very well at 20-30 feet with #6 shot. That would be fine for snakes. Four legged critters? Probably slugs or buckshot. Never fired any in mine, so I can't say what they do in 410.

Yeah I know a slug is a lil overkill for a snake but I want the lead if I see a hog or coyote. I am actually thinking about getting a circuit judge though and keep some 410 shells and some 45LC in it. Oh and I dont know why I put a dash between 4 10. I guess just the way I always thought it would be written. I am no gun expert just a country boy that likes to shoot and has some old hunting guns. Thanks for the replies guys. I ended bringing my old 38 special with me the other day and didnt even see anything to shoot.
