Best handgun caliber there is, but you have to reload to be able to shoot it. Have had several Mod 57 & 58 S&W over the years.

Not a Ruger person, but that's a personal experience thing.
.41 Mag is one great all around round.
I have a Smith 57, and a 657. Very fun round. I do not handload, I've never had problems finding ammo for it, at least until the ammo craze of 2013

Then you will LOVE it. Got a model 58 in a trade years ago, didn't want it but soon learned that with cast bullets and handloads it was a tack-driver. You have to be a reloader and a bullet caster to appreciate all it's potential and possibilities. Back when I was young and foolish I passed up buying an old model Ruger Blackhawk in 41. mag....still kicking my self for that. I thought I wanted a 44 mag...untill I got the 41.
The problem with ammo is not being able to find non-magum, loaded to max velocity loads. Shooting targets and tin cans doesn't need jacketed hollow points at 1500 fps. Cast lead at 800 to 900 is much better...but just try to find that load on your dealer's shelf.
Don't be like me and pass up the opprotunity...it only knocks once.
