I'm just curious for sake of having the knowledge if I need it..... I live in Baton Rouge, La. Lets say I go to a pawn shop, private owner, academy, etc... in another state. Can I, if so, how so, can I legally purchase a firearm, lower reciever in another state? Example: I'm in Baton Rouge, but a pawn shop in I dunno, Meridian MS has a gun at a great price and I'd like to buy it. How can I do so legally?

you can buy a long gun from an FFL in a state other than your home state, as long as the firearm is legal in your home state and both states allow for out of state purchase (LA does). If you want to purchase a handgun from another state, the out of state FFL has to ship the handgun to an FFL in the state you live. The in state FFL will do the 4473 and NICS and charge a transfer fee. The shipping FFL must have a signed copy of the receiving FFLs license. The license can be emailed, faxed or mailed.
