I faced a similar senario when building my Saiga 308. Wood vs. OD green synthetic. I picked the OD, primarily 'cause I knew I wanted a handgun to match, and this boy ain't going outside with a plum pistol.

    Here's my matching set, a Sagia 308 and a XD45c.

One day down the road, I want to get a M1A in the same OD furniture.

BTW Seabee, If you want to see it in person, PM me and we'll meet up maybe at FITS or something.

How about compromising like our government does? How's a wooden front stock, plum butt stock, and a OD green grip sound to you?

Nice! How do you like the .308? I'm curious how it feels in an AK platform.

The additional recoil is somewhat absorbed by the increased weight compared to a std AK, but I won't say you don't know you're shooting 308. It definitely has a thump. A recoil pad could be the ticket there.

Even feeding the longer round, it has never malfunctioned in any way. It will spit 308 brass as fast as I can pull the trigger. Every brand tested, .308 and 7.62x51.

I haven't put any glass on it yet, so I can't attest to an accuracy level, except to say that from a standing position, I can rock the steel plates at 100yds all day long.

I'm very happy with the rifle overall, especially considering I have less than $800 invested in a rock-solid semi auto 308.

    And it matches my pistol!!:D
