Just wondering of anyone one else was worrying about this UN gun treaty, give opinions concerns, or why you think its nothing to be worried about if that's how you feel. Personalty I am worried.

Take a look at the other thread. Lots of info there.

IMO , no...nothing new here. They have been batting this around for years...just not a high enough ***** level in DC... YET, probably one day soon. Just not on my B Day

Could some one explain this u n treaty to me do I understand that the goverment can come get my guns and How close is this thing to getting signed I know they are trying to slip this thing in the back door and it makes me sick to my stomach I guess I need some one to put it in dumb redneck terms for me

I haven't seen the actual treaty verbage being presented, but there's a lot of speculation. Many people are worried about that the treaty is designed to regulate the domestic gun laws in member countries (ie. that a foreign treaty will make guns in our country illegal). From what I've read of the actual proposal is that the domestic conduct of arms will be left up to the individual countries to regulate. So if America allows arms for its citizens, then that wouldn't be touched by this treaty. What they do say it is for is to further regulate the international sale and trade of arms between countries.

We'll see what it actually says shortly. Hilary would sign anything. If it said gun owners would be punished by the execution of their first-born child, she'd sign it.

However, even after she signs the treaty, the senate still has to ratify it by a 2/3rds vote of the present senate for it to go into effect. Furthermore, precedence has been set that no treaty overrules the constitution. So they would then have to repeal the 2nd amendment or get SCOTUS to rule that the right to bear arms applies only to those in the military/law enforcement (something to that effect).

I looked at that. The only thing it shows is the resolution and the replies from member countries (not all of them) supporting the treaty and what they would like/would not like to see in it. Am I missing something?

I'm thinking an increase in price of weapons that are usually imported . Parts and all
If I understood it right that it mainly effects international firearms sales. That and ammo may go up to. Ppl will get pissed at one of the most unnessasry organizations in modern time, the UN, .
