My wife (She Who Must Be Obeyed) is annoyed at my storage of ammo in our utility room. I have a building separate from the house in which I have room for my ammo. However, it has neither heat nor AC and is generally the same temperature as the outside. I do run a dehumidifier in the room, which is set at 40%. Since the dehumidifier does not run constantly, I assume that is the general humidity in the room.

Is there any reason I cannot or should not store my ammo in this separate building? I keep my ammo in .50 cal ammo cans, in each of which I put a 5 gram desiccant pack. My main concern (and question) is would the summer heat adversely affect the ammo being stored, from either an explosion risk standpoint (most important) or a quality standpoint?

Suggestion: If you store out there, get a metal gun cabinet and put a golden rod dehumidifier or two, in there. That will help drive out humidity from the cabinet. Ammo cans are also a good idea.

Store your wife in the separate building :D

Store it at my house i will check it to make sure it stays servicable or put it under your bed, plus there is a great spot to hide under most sofas with the air gaps. How much ammo are you storing? Old dressers make good storage space.

As do curio cabinets. If you take the shelves out they make a nice place to display your collection! If you're feeling gracious offer your wife the choice of the utility room or the curio cabinet.

I prefer a climate controlled place to store ammunition unless it is for a short duration.

Ok lets look at in value 550rds of 7.62 x 39 average cost $200.00

Marriage license $45.00 plus $10.00 filing.

Hey don't get mad at me I didn't set the market value.:bowrofl::doh:

Hmmm or you could look at it as:

Ok lets look at in value 550rds of 7.62 x 39 average cost $200.00

    compared too...

Divorce lawyer + half your sh*t (including ammo n guns) + alimony...

I learned the hard way! :mamoru:
