My wife (She Who Must Be Obeyed) is annoyed at my storage of ammo in our utility room. I have a building separate from the house in which I have room for my ammo. However, it has neither heat nor AC and is generally the same temperature as the outside. I do run a dehumidifier in the room, which is set at 40%. Since the dehumidifier does not run constantly, I assume that is the general humidity in the room.
Is there any reason I cannot or should not store my ammo in this separate building? I keep my ammo in .50 cal ammo cans, in each of which I put a 5 gram desiccant pack. My main concern (and question) is would the summer heat adversely affect the ammo being stored, from either an explosion risk standpoint (most important) or a quality standpoint?
