How is living there? I got a wild hair to move to that area in the next few years and just wanted to get some input. I've read of a few other towns in the area with some good and bad but does anyone have suggestions around DFW?

Work moved me here 2 weeks ago. I live in uptown now and enjoying it thus far.

Are there any specific attributes that make or break it for you? Your question is fairly vague.

Northwest side of Ft. Worth isn't bad.
    Neither is Waxahachie.
Mesquite used to be nice but i hear it has gone downhill.

It's been years since I've been to Waxahachie but the last time I remember it, it was a nice place.

Hands down, I think Austin over DFW is a much better city to reside in.

If I had to pick anywhere in Texas to move to, I'm a big fan of Brenham. Love, love, love that immediate area.

I lived in Dallas for several years. I loved it and can't wait for the chance to move back. The traffice around 35/635/75 is pretty bad but I had no problem paying for a Toll Tag to take Bush, Tollway and 121. Its well worth it. I lived in North Dallas and Plano. I would never live south of downtown.

I've been working there (North Dallas) over a year. Have yet to encounter this "horrible traffic" that people complain about. You wont get stuck in traffic if you know your way around.

Need more info on what you want. Country living? City?

Mesquite has definitely gon downhill. It was a pretty quick shift...Happened in 2005. My mom has lived there for ~18 years and I went to school there for several years.

Austin? Full of dirty hippies. Nice place to visit but no way I could live there.

I am looking for a rural area in a community contained in a good school district with low crime. I would like to find something far enough from the big city so the hustle and bustle isn't an issue, but it's close enough to get there with a short drive.

Very seldomly did I find that traffic either. I think people who talk about it are referring to 635 mostly.

    Flower mound area

or Plano, Allen, Frisco, The Colony, Lewisville, et. al.
