My go to for all rabbit hunting. Its actually the only gun I've used to hunt rabbit.
Browning gold trigger 28g pump. I haven't been rabbit hunting since 04ish so I don't recall the shell size.
Pretty much the same you would with any other gauge. You just have less pellets...
Shot size 4 or 5 for rabbit
6 for squirrel
8 or 9 for woodcock or quail or dove or ruffed grouse
If I were to use it for pheasant or sharp tailed grouse I’d go with 7.5s but I want a 12 for them.
Bought one two years ago for squirrel hunting. It didn't do well for me, had to empty the gun on one close up. Not enough pellets for me. Sold it and got a new A5 Sweet Sixteen. Now it's working!
I hunted with a friend's Beretta and i used 7.5 shot. I just learned that the shot pattern of the 28 guage is far superior to that of the 410, so I sold my 410.
