They make good stuff. The newer MeoPro and MeoStar lines are way better than the Artimus line that they first introduced. Good company and they build a lot of stuff you would never guess. The Zeiss conquest is completely done by Meopta in their US plant. Nothing on the conquest is touched by Zeiss. They also process Aimpoint glass as well. General Dynamics is one of their large customers supplying tank commander parascopes (not only for us vehicles but other militaries as well). They also make lenses for other weapons systems like the TOW weapons system.
The new S2 spotters are really nice.
Long story short, it's a good company to buy product from in my opinion.
I have two Meopta scopes on hunting rifles (Meopro). They are good scopes for the money, not top end but they aint junk either. I would recommend them for a hunting rig. I have the 4 X 12 X 50.
i have the 3x9x42 meopro. I also have a zeiss conquest and in both lowlight (dusk) and full sunlight I cannot tell the difference in optical clarity between the two. I have heard that the conquest and meopro glass are identical in every way except coatings, dunno, i dont care to know what the technical differences are but to my eyes they are identical (performance wise) and both have a little better glass than monarchs and VX3's. The meostar line is a small step up in glass with 30mm tubes. In my experience, for the most part glass quality between scopes in the mid range $400-$800 and often times much higher (ex: loopy mark 4) is going to be VERY close with few exceptions, however you dont get much more (if any) optical performance for the added coin. (ex. conquest 4.5 x 14 is optically superior to the Mark 4 4.5x14 I have both and it is a fact) Also check out the Minox scopes, they are right there with the Meopro, check out optics thoughts.com for some reviews.
