I am wanting to try growing the Cherokee Purples again but they always seem to die on me. I use potting soil and have put the metal cages around them and seem to have no luck with them. Do I need to put in some calcium additives and also some soil acidifiers?
On a side note how do you guys keep fire ants out of the garden? I am hesitant to use bait for the ants as I don't want any uptake into the veggies.
