Anyone fish catfish out the MIssissippi?

I know a few guys and have seen a lot of people fishing in the Mississippi River. I have witnesses a few monsters getting caught.

I fish in Lake Borgne and Lake Pontartrain, and I am going in the West Pearl this weekend. I am skeptical of fishing in the Mississippi because of contanimates.

With prices rising, I am turning more to catching my own food. I am starting to shrimp and crab again this year, and hog hunting.

The river is rising, and the catfish will be easy pickings along the levee. Anyone ever catch catfish or eat catfich from the Mississippi?

Anyone else starting to do more to hunt/catch/fish for their own food?

get a copy of the Louisiana fishing regs. Look in the back and it has advisories for all the areas in the stare regarding what is safe to eat and what is not. You'd be surprised

By the way if you eat any seafood such as Louisianna shrimp, oysters, trout redfish, basically anything from Venice, Where does that water come from?

Ate lots of catfish from the Mississippi. From around the grain elevators in baton rouge and also around Thomson creek in st. Francisville. Ain't a damn thing wrong with those fish.
