I've always been a Honda fan as well. I bought a Rancher 420ES 4x4 for me and a Recon 250ES for the wife. Don't dis' the Recon, it's more capable than one would think in the right hands. I've ridden plenty of Foreman 500's, and they are a great bike, just a bit on the large side for me. My Rancher is so much more nimble in thick woods and can go thru most mud just fine. My son has a Polaris Sportsman 500 and it is a BEAST, a big, heavy pig of a beast. But it pulls it's butt off. It can drag my Rancher anywhere it wants to.

I had the rancher, 2 Yamaha wolverines and a recon. The Recon was by far the most fun and reliable. I put good tires on the rear and it was awesome in the mud.

The bad thing is, i'm driving to Laurel, Ms for it. I called multiple dealers, told them exactly what I wanted and how much I was willing to pay, and Honda of Laurel will do it. The ones in Lafayette said that's their cost, it wasn't possible to sell for that much. Oh well, road trip time

Red. My ozark is red and I love it. Doesn't show scratches as much and pretty easy to keep clean. Don't let it sit in the sun for long periods though. It will fade

Well...on my way home from FriendlyHonda in Baton Rouge with a new 2014 Foreman 500. I went with the foot shift, no power steering. Added the stick stoppers, and will put some bigger/better mud tires asap.

They were good people to deal with. Neither honda places in Lafayette could come close in price. BTW- I will NEVER do business at Honda of Lafayette, but that's another thread.

Thanks for the help everyone, will post pics soon

Good deal man. You should be happy with that.
And Baton Rouge honda and Yamaha are normally good people to deal with. Cat in parts seems grumpy but she knows her stuff

Good point! Bigger is not always better when stuck!

    Love my Rancher!

I've owned several bikes... Most all large and 4x4....
My favorite bike out of them is my 2007 ozark 250. I take this bike everywhere I want (anywhere I took my other big bikes) except when it gets stuck it's easy as hell to get out. I just pick it up. So light. Also has a winch that works because the bike isn't so heavy. PLUS unlike the others it moves much more agile in the woods getting deer out. View attachment 48644

image.jpgSeems high to me. If you buy a bike with snorkels chances are it has been rode pretty hard. This is what i ride. Very little mud on my bike cause i clean it after every ride. I just got back from mud nationals and cleaned it.

No ****! Found an ad from Honda of Laurel out of Ms, and been emailing back and forth with salesman. $5680 for a 2013 Foreman in Camo with electric shift, or $5680 for a 2014 with foot shift in red/green.

My main concern is reliability. Its really just for me to ride my children to the back of our property to our horses. Will most likely never see any real mud. Pretty sure I would rather foot shift, to be able to drive one handed. 4x4 is a must. Not looking to spend over $6000. Really just a family bike.

I'd go with some 27" mud lites. Or my new favorite is zilla's. not mudzillas... Zillas.
I'd go 27" with those as well. Both are lightweight but I have found the zillas do much better all around.
