Anyone know colt wheel guns?

I got an older but MINT cold 38detective special that I'm trying to get a date on. Finish is 100% with 6 rounds ever put through it. Anyone know how to date these things and estimate value?

I picked up a unfired 3rd gen and googled it.... List online (of serial numbers) helped me pin down to 1975.

That is a pretty revolver. I don't know how Colt makes their weapons look so dark blue. I don't think any other manufacturer comes close to the finish they put on their stuff.

Lead foot looked it up for me. But my serial number wasn't on that site.
