Does anyone know if there are any Appleseed events being planned for Amite, LA.
Looking at their website, there aren't any clinics planned in Louisiana.
It would be nice to get 1 in while it's still cool weather.

Maybe keep an eye on their forums. I'm sure the Appleseed volunteers have to work around their own schedules and also the schedules of the facilities that host the clinics. But I agree, it would be nice to attend now before the heat and humidity creep back into Louisiana.

***Lawdog is the coordinator for Louisiana. I think he's here on this forum too.

Question for anyone who has done it. I prefer to shoot a lever action 22 with a fine aperture peep site. Would that set up work for this?

The sights should not be an issue. A lever action will be more difficult to use in the drills they are teaching. Shooting in cadence from prone will be challenging. Reloads are a part of it also, and you would have to skip that as you have no magazine. If you have a 10/22 style rifle, that would work much better. That being said, you will learn a lot even if you do it with a lever action.

I have been to the Amite event 1 time.
Your choice of sights would not be a problem.
The tubular magazine would not allow the mag changes that are required.
i relearned a bunch of basics and the included history lesson is first rate.
Highly recommended class for us old guys and the younger bunch of shooters coming up.

I really wish I could make the next Amite Appleseed. I've been to two others, and they have been amazing.

Semiauto is better, but they're teaching fundamentals that apply across platforms. Might just be harder for you to earn your Rifleman's patch, is all.
