ar15 barrel / upper ?

1st off, let me bring ya up to speed on my combination:

barrel: DPMS 24" SS Bull 1-9 twist, fluted .223
upper: DPMS "Low-Pro"
BCG: Spike's Chrome

now, i'm not having any accuracy or feeding issues (granted i haven't had a chance to stretch out beyond 100yds + there's only been 100 or so rounds fed thru). today while cleaning her i noticed that where the upper & the chamber meet, the upper protrudes ever so slightly above the feed ramp. i'm not sure what spec. the ramp is, nor have i head spaced it. it just looked odd to me & i'm not sure if this is even something i should be concerned with

any help or criticism is much appreciated

Is sounds like you have an upper with no M4 cuts and a Barrel Extension with M4 ramps (like the photo on the bottom right), thats how it would look if thats the case. Some worke very well with that configuration, some may need very minor dremel milling where the M4 cuts would have been on the Upper, No problem if you are having no feeding issues, This was an update and new config for Colt years ago to extend and sell more M4's to the military. I have 2 rifles set up like yours, no problems,

It's not really an issue at all.

bottom right on the pics is what it looks like.

so, the barrel extension is not part of the actual barrel?

It is part of the barrel assembly, it is heated and pressed on and then pinned. Its not worth changing just to switch to one without M4 ramps. T
