dont waste you money on one. they want stop you from getting a speeding ticket every time

True..but IMO it does help. I had a Escort Passport radar detector for years and never got a ticket. I broke it and it cost $60 to fix so before i could send it off What happens?? I get a speeding ticket from a Trooper siting on the side of the road.

My detector would have picked him up way before he ever knew I was coming..

So needless to say the next day I sent it off to get fixed. In my experience my detector has paid for itself over and over again.

But dont waste your money on a cheap one. I recommend the Escort Passport and Beltronics they are the best for the money.

I dont speed unless I am one of the only people on the road, it is just nice to know when to be extra careful.

Is it possible that by using the radar detector you just acclimated yourself to breaking the law, and when that tool was not available, you got caught doing what was wrong all along?

FYI, if they are running LASER, which state does a lot more of now, a detector will not help.

Sheriff's, PD's, etc, are suing doppler mostly, so you might get lucky.

once the radar picks up the lidar (laser) your speed has already been recored. it a point and shot system on one vehicle at a time unlike the old doppler which just send out a wave and hit several vehciles at one time.

Just because something is "breaking the law" doesn't mean that it's "wrong." ;)

Laser is a threat, but it's a little easier to spot an officer running lidar.

So my Valentine 1 that pics up laser and tells me what direction it is coming from is not good any more?

The nature of laser (a fairly tight beam) means that your picking it up will most likely be telling you that you've already been hit with it, unlike radar which broadcasts a wide signal.

There is a decent chance of picking up the scatter off of another car, or for the trooper to have to take a second aim or an extra second or two of time to get a good reading, during which you can slow down a good bit.

If your V1 picks up the laser that is pointed at you, then it is already too late. There is always the possibility that you're picking up laser that is being aimed at another car. Your odds are much much better with a radar/laser detector than they are without one
