"would give state and local police broad powers to check the immigration status of people detained on other charges."

Broad powers really? Being able to do one thing after a person has been detained on other charges is considered broad?

Now we need to get Mississippi and Louisiana on board with this and also when the free trade treaty goes into effect deny entery to trucks from mexico. If the feds wont uphold the constitution maybe the old confederacy will.
