I'm kinda pissed that it's only offered to group plans.
Why? They're paying more.
My In-laws plan that we are all on is in the $325 a month range.
We're paying them close to $4,000 a year for Cell Service.
To me that's a perfect group of people to offer and incentive too.
I still have my unlimited plan through AT&T. I've only been throttled once and paying $20 for unlimited text/data is A-OK with me.
My wife and I are grandfathered in with the unlimited plan. Haven't reached enough to be throttled. This is good news for others though.
It's the phantom MB draw from apps like FB, email push, etc that get you in notifications, fetching messages, etc... I've gotten it down ALARP but I realized I was no longer getting throttled, did a quick search on AT&T and voila noticed the change in throttling GB, they used to throttle me at 2 or 3 GB...
I as well, but my wife gets 2 or 3 gigs on our family plan.
Did you know ATT bumped up the throttle limit at 5GB for us now!? fantastic!
I would consider it for only this reason- my wife didn't get in in time to get the unlimited plan. She gets 2gb. She went over last Monday so they charged us $10 for an extra GB. Our plan cycled two days later. Still had to pay for the extra gb. This is stupid.
Yeah the first time I realized they were playing chicken with the throttling, I said "it's on bitch!" and managed to get over 10GB for that month!
I am going to have to look over my bill, but I do not rememeber paying a "smartphone access charge" and I have had att since it was bellsouth mobility and smartphones for 7 or so years. I have an iPhone on unlimited, wife has an iPhone on 2gb, unlimited text, way more minutes than we have ever used, home phone and dsl and monthly bill is around $165. If I read that chart correctly, just the data plan would go well over what I already pay. Are the smartphone access charges what everyone pays now?
I do not like the "next" thing, you basicly rent a phone for $20-50 a month, I prefer to pay a couple hundred up front and keep monthly cost low. Am I missing something?
