Surely you have parents, siblings, cousins, buddies, a girlfriend? I had a family plan with some cousins for a couple years to save $$$.

Doc I'm going to see a friend who works at AT&T this week to grab a beer. I'll ask him about it.

    http://www.pcworld.com/article/2687764/att-offers-double-data-for-family-plans-but-read-the-fine-print-carefully.html

It looks like unless you're already using a shared data plan, and intend to use Next, this is a terrible deal. $40/month charge per contract phone ($15 per Next phone). So for a 2-year plan, there's an almost $2000 "access charge". Double that to $4k, since you need to have at least two lines to qualify for it anyway. I guess it's a good choice for certain consumers, but for me, no thanks!

Granted, I don't know how the old pricing structure worked.

I'm kinda pissed that it's only offered to group plans.

    Why? They're paying more.

My In-laws plan that we are all on is in the $325 a month range.
We're paying them close to $4,000 a year for Cell Service.
To me that's a perfect group of people to offer and incentive too.

I still have my unlimited plan through AT&T. I've only been throttled once and paying $20 for unlimited text/data is A-OK with me.

But at least throw me a bone. I get 2 gigs a month which is a joke.
Just give me one more gig!!!!

i called , worked for me, my monthly bill for 5 phones(3 kids) is $300 plus for 20GB of data, doubled to 40GB no extra monthly charge and no lose of discounts. Had to do it by phone though, took maybe 20 minutes.

I as well, but my wife gets 2 or 3 gigs on our family plan.

Did you know ATT bumped up the throttle limit at 5GB for us now!? fantastic!

My wife and I are grandfathered in with the unlimited plan. Haven't reached enough to be throttled. This is good news for others though.

It's the phantom MB draw from apps like FB, email push, etc that get you in notifications, fetching messages, etc... I've gotten it down ALARP but I realized I was no longer getting throttled, did a quick search on AT&T and voila noticed the change in throttling GB, they used to throttle me at 2 or 3 GB...

I would consider it for only this reason- my wife didn't get in in time to get the unlimited plan. She gets 2gb. She went over last Monday so they charged us $10 for an extra GB. Our plan cycled two days later. Still had to pay for the extra gb. This is stupid.

Yeah the first time I realized they were playing chicken with the throttling, I said "it's on bitch!" and managed to get over 10GB for that month!

I was wondering how I haven't been throttled lately. I used to get throttled at work, listening to pandora, before they let us use the in house wi-fi. They blocked pandora for the longest time, until they realized letting us listen to music actually increased productivity lol.

I am going to have to look over my bill, but I do not rememeber paying a "smartphone access charge" and I have had att since it was bellsouth mobility and smartphones for 7 or so years. I have an iPhone on unlimited, wife has an iPhone on 2gb, unlimited text, way more minutes than we have ever used, home phone and dsl and monthly bill is around $165. If I read that chart correctly, just the data plan would go well over what I already pay. Are the smartphone access charges what everyone pays now?
I do not like the "next" thing, you basicly rent a phone for $20-50 a month, I prefer to pay a couple hundred up front and keep monthly cost low. Am I missing something?

Smartphone access charge is around $40 for Verizon too... not sure why but they charge for it as well.

You can opt for either NEXT or the standard 2 year agreement according to the website. Any input guys?
