No telling what was going on up there,... That is a screwy little community with too much news time for a town that small. Its one of those small corrupt southern towns you see in the movies,... I don't like driving through it,... heard too many stories of illegal stops etc.

Of all the crazy things to take out a police officer, damn, a bicycle. It's a shame about the officer, should have been the former mayor IMO.

Russel George was a sergeant at LSU PD in patrol when I got hired there 12 years ago. He also was part of starting the motor unit for LSU PD. We called him Rosco and he was such a character around the office. He will be missed greatly. RIP Brother.

Vehicles are involved in more deaths than firearms, yet NO ONE calls for legislation requiring vehicles to be limited to 55 MPH. If all legally registered and insured vehicles were physically limited to 55 MPH, LEO would be granted access to faster vehicles much like access to high-capacity mags is granted and this guy would still have been driving to fast (over 55 MPH). BTW- "Criminals" would also have vehicles that exceed 55 MPH because simply driving a vehicle that can exceed 55 MPH is a criminal act.

Lets not forget Arms are a RIGHT and Driving is a PRIVILEGE so consider this sad story when any American Citizen wants to restrict your liberties to make themselves "feel safer".

Driving is not a privilege nor is it granted by the government.

Regulates the population?! They don't regulate us, we regulate ourselves. You need a license to carry a concealed weapon, does that mean owning weapons is a privilege too? They grant us nothing. Its precisely this acquiescence that's giving this country away.

An American Citizen's ability to buy/sell/trade and USE firearms is less regulated than the Citizen's ability to buy/sell/trade and use POVs; ask anybody with a prior DWI if you don't believe me. Going through a licensing procedure for Concealed Carry or Class III is an attempt to protect the sheeple. Individuals refuse to take responsibility for many things today, oftentimes their personal safety, and legislation becomes their caretaker of choice.

Implementing a policy effectively and enforcing it consistently is a nearly impossible task in today's world. Until the well runs dry, two-party politics will stagnate all progress so its important to be active and take responsibility. Anybody who has in interest in civil liberties, including gun owners, should be a member of the NRA and know who their representatives are for all legislative bodies.

How many people have claimed responsibility for this Man's death? How many people have written letters to the Town Talk demanding the speed limit in Ball be lowered? BTW - Ball(s) has always been a parasite sucking blood off of 165 (longhand for Speed Trap). Did Jindal come on TV and speak about how the State's automotive fatality rate is higher than anywhere else and was cutting all speed limits in the state to 55 MPH?

Maybe 10 years ago an Alexandria City-Marshall named Glenn DeVanie died while responding to a call for backup. He struck a pole at high speed and died, leaving behind a family. The story is repeating itself again and this is just in the CENLA area we are considering, what if we included the entire state?

No One is going to squash the speed limit because it's not the cool thing to do, yet had this man died in a hail of gunfire many would get to sh1tt1ng on gun rights.
