As some of my fellow Baton Rouge citizens may know, tomorrow (4/21) is the vote on the "CATS Tax". I would like to encourage everyone to go vote against this tax increase.

If CATS needs money, they can have a fare hike. I don't want to support a socialist idea of taking money from the rich (who don't use the buses) and giving it to CATS so they can keep their fare down and make money off of both rich and poor.

If I actually lived in Baton Rouge I would vote "No!"

No more money for the cash leeches until common sense budgets are reined in and met!

I know someone from a nation wide company that sells parts to CATS. He told me that he was at CATS talking to the boss in the shop and asked him what all those new buses on the back lot were doing. The CATS guy told him they weren't running them until after the election.
He told me they were some fine new buses.

I'm not from baton rouge but i myself think that everyone that wants to vote against this tax should be forced to park their nice car's and leave there nice house's and walk to the nearest bus stop....And have to ride the bus everyday for a week then let them see what they think!!!! No i don't ride the bus and yes i have a nice car myself....But as i was riding through baton rouge yesterday i noticed that almost every sign i saw against the tax was in the yard of a very nice very large home with 2 or more nice vehicles in the driveway!!!! The fact is most people waist as much as this tax would make them pay every year and don't have the slightest clue what are where they spent it!!!! No i don't need it...!! well put your self in the shoes of those that do for a week and see what they go through!!!!!

From the comments. Gerald sounds a bit slow, IMO.

Either way, it won't ever actually AFFECT me, since I don't own any property in EBR, or anywhere else, for that matter, but I will get out to vote a big, fat, juicy N-O on this one tomorrow.

My one question for those more experienced voters, as I've only voted once in my life, and that was mid-terms in 2010: do we vote at the same place as normal federal elections? I voted on campus at LSU for mid-terms, just making sure that it will be at the same place for this garbage. TIA.

I am sorry, I agree with raising the fare. It is not to make other people for something that they will or never have used. Awe ****!! I forgot..... that is not how the US works anymore.

Since when is bus service a government thing anyway? I always thought that was a private company?????

You mean to tell me that we are paying there salaries and benefits to sit on their already fat asses and drive all day??? What the hell is this country coming too?

Rights vs. privileges. Rights no longer exists, and things that are SUPPOSED to be privileges are being FORCED into being RIGHTS.

If I lived in BR, I'd vote against it.

Raise the bus fare. That's it.

Just as we have to "absorb" higher fuel costs, so should the people who use busing have to absorb higher fare.

If you live in BR get out while the getting is good. Due to it's demographic (Democrats) make up I'm sure more taxes are on the horizon. Baton Rouge is going to experience the flight New Orleans eventually did. As property taxes went up people left to live in surrounding parishes. Ascension, Livingston, and the Feliciana parishes will be refuges from the high taxes Baton Rouge will need to support it's entitlement class. I thank God every day my business and home are in Ascension Parish.

Whether or not there's any truth to that, we have to at least get out and vote it down in the first place before it would even come to that.

If it does come to that I think it would only serve to **** a lot more people off that the feds are stepping over their bounds for stuff like this. Eventually, that will come back to bite them.
