BBQ Competition

With the series BBQ Pitmaster on TV now, I was just wondering if anyone here competes in the any of the BBQ competitions here in LA or MS. I see there is a big one in Hammond in March. I would be willing to lend a helping hand with anyone that is competing as I really want to learn how to do brisket and ribs.

I really like the series, although not for the cooks, but for what I can learn from watching them prep, season and cook.

At one time I was a trained judge. I did compete two different times in the amatuer competitions. Haven't done it in 4 or 5 years.

we went to the blues and bbq last weekend in hammond La and it was fantastic.
got to talk to jimmy trigg from the pit masters show and watched alot of q,ing.
I plan to compete in the backyard division next year.

My neighbor competes in BBQ competitions all over (TN, TX, etc). The smell from her yard is incredible...
