    Shreveport - or therebouts
A friend's wife who lives down the road got bit (bitten?) on the foot by a large moccasin Friday afternoon - 2 days in the hospital and 20 viles of anti venom later she got to go home. Still hurting and bed rest for 2 more weeks.
Snake got her 3 times before she could create distance.
Hospital rumor is $10K per vile for the juice - could that be right?

Water Moccasins are not snakes. They are demons in snake form.

Some tissue grafts, surgeries and good wound care,
his foot can most likely be saved. Hopefully.

That is a bad boy of a snake to get bitten by.

Yes it is. Fer-de-lances, unlike most other snakes are know to strike and hold onto their prey. Their long fangs, level of toxicity, and their willingness to hold on and pump venom make for a very bad day.
On top of that their skin is camouflaged to the point it damn near makes Realtree look like blaze orange.

I was on a bus in Belize less than a week ago on my way to make a 1 mile hike through the rainforest to go cave tubing when the guide started passing around a picture of a Fer de lance saying, "If you see one of these please don't touch it". I looked down at the Vibram 5 fingers I had on and was suddenly wishing for my snake chaps.

How did the snake bite do that much damage? (In the original image). Was it from necrosis, or someone trying to pull the snake off? Or post bite surgery of some kind? We have some nasty ass snakes back home, but have never seen any pics like that from a bite from 1 of them.
On a side note. As bad ass as that fer de lance is, that's still a nice looking snake.

I've had a skin graph surgery but not that bad. After it all heals trying to stretch that skin out and re gain mobility in the foot is going to suck big time.
