I have been thinking of getting a Glock 26 as an option to my EDC Glock 19 (for those times when I want something smaller in size). I know that the 19 magazines can be used in the 26 but I don't plan on carrying both at the same time. Thing is, I have shot the 26 and really liked it alot, but there isn't much difference overall size-wise to help much with concealability, in my mind, to justify the money. It would be like having 2 of the same guns. Since then I started thinking about getting the G23 (40 cal) instead. Same price, same size as the 19 but different caliber. Then the 19 could become a vehicle handgun.

Should I go with my new thinking on the 23 or seriously stay with my original plan with the 26? I do want to stay with a Glock because I want my brain to immediately recognize it when I grab it in that worst case scenario.

FWIW: my BUG is either my LCP or SP101 depending on my mood

I would stay with the same caliber when possible on carry guns. If you decide you want to move to .40, then also swap your 19 for a 23.
