Whatever you choose use quality parts, especially the barrel, and bcg.
.308 Win., hands down.Question for the BayouShooter AR afficianodos: I'm an old geezer with NO experience in those other calibers using the AR platform, but a younger friend tells me his heart is set on getting himself an AR in the .50 Beowulf caliber. Good choice, or a bad choice? Should he change his mind?
I love 308 one of my favorites, BUT the only draw back is huge in that in fits in an AR-10 not 15.
Now, what is helping is the POF and Ruger guns which are still a little unproven.
Caliber-wise it's king, but hard to pick over in 6.5 grendel in the smaller 15 platform.
That would be big and heavy.I'd like an AR-05 chambered in .30-06 SPRG.
I was editing that post as you were quoting it. LOLThat would be big and heavy.
I am familiar with Noreen firearms and have eyeballed their .30-06 offering several times. Absolutely drool-worthy.Noreen made an AR 10 size 30-06 for years. Think they are still out there
My cousin uses a 223 build with custom rounds and it does the trick.I am wanting to put an AR 15 together that will double as a hunting rifle it will be used Deer size game and shooting 200 yards or less. What caliber would you recommend I know an AR 10 would be better but with the 15 platform I will be able to change the upper and shoot other calibers. Thanks in Advance
