What's this hammer bite I hear about. I shot my first 1911 over 50 yrs ago and have yet to get hammer bite
when the hammer bites the skin between the thumb and index... has pretty much been fixed with newer style beaver tails, usually with larger hands

...1911..., I ALWAYS come home with the infamous hammer bite!! ....
It happens to a lot of us. And MAYBE adjusting your grip can cure it, but you may create other issues.

A drop in beaver tail WILL cure it and allow you to grip the gun in a way that feels natural to you.

The range of options can overwhelm you if you are new to 1911's. It may be best to take it to a smith with experience and get a total price before you buy anything that you can't use.

The sad part is, I carried a 1911 in the Army for 11 years and was always aware of it!! Now I warn everyone about the possibility and turn around and do it to myself, not once, but twice on different range trips
