Damn, they dont rattle till you get right up on them either...Never seen a rattlesnake in the wild, till about a year ago!!! Walking in a cane field that was just cut trying to get some leftover cane and I walked up on one,the Good Lord was with me that day because I saw the snake before he got spooked from a distance...he was about 4' long, picked up a long piece of cane and messed with him,he coiled and he struck at the cane ...The strange thing was he never rattled till he saw that piece of cane....Made me slow down walkin and a lot more lookin at the ground when I'm in the woods or the fields.....!!!:twitch:

Watched a show on rattle snakes on NGC, they claim a mature snake wont release all if any venom, where an immature rattle snake will inject most of it's venom in 1 bite.....:nono:I sure as hell wouldnt want to test this claim though, thats a big snake!!!!! Rattles probably sound like ball bearings in a plastic jar:mamoru:

4 hours to travel 4.5 miles? I guess they were on the moon...

From the article, I'd assume they were rock climbing. Modern medicine has its flaws but it has stories like this one as well.

After going through that and paying over $700,000, I don't know if I'd want that snake in a jar or never see it again.

When I did wound care in the hospital I had a patient with a fasciotomy like the one pictured. It was on a leg due to cellulitis. The surgeon had me go into surgery to see and explain what he wanted me to do.

Yep, I'm glad they don't have those suckers where I hunt! I hate water moccasins, but I prefer them over those big Rattlers!

Guy came into the hunting camp with a 4 and half foot timber once. Gave me chills just to look at it. Had a whole squirrel in it which is why they thought it didn't strike the hunter that brought it in.

On Columbus day I sat on a log while squirrel hunting with my sons. After about 15 minutes I stood up and saw something moving behind my foot.

Five ft. long, 13 rattles and a button.

Stepped out on the trail and saw this.

Needless to say the hunt was over.
