    Unfortunately, even this has a negative connotation as far as I'm concerned - ideally it should read "Gun owners protect business" or "Responsible citizens deter criminals." Black, white, brown, yellow, red, Venusian purple, shouldn't matter. I get that it's a kind of "counterpoint" to the general narrative surrounding the Ferguson issue, but a part of me thinks that we should in no way play into the continuation of the media's focus on the race factor.

    The media injected race into it. They are helping to protect a good friend who has helped them over the years. Race has nothing to do with their friendship.
