Not a big deal. I've been a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Explorer, even an Eagle Scout. My parents involved my sister in all the scouting activities even though she wasn't an "official" boy scout. As an adult I've been a Scout Camp Aquatics Director, a Den Leader, and a Cubmaster for my son's pack, never turned away females that wanted to be involved. Now as a grandparent, when the older male grandchild is involved in scouting, including camping, we've always included the younger sisters, and are not the only parents/grandparents to do so. I see it as more or less recognizing what was going on anyway.

And one of my favorite jokes (particularly since I'm retired military) is: Q: How is the military different from the Boy Scouts? A: The Boy Scouts have adult leaders.

Having knowledge of the scouting organization, I just wish more parents were involved in such activities with their children.
