I've been thinking that the larger rifles and ammo will get left behind. I can't see carrying the AR + mags + maybe a few hundred rounds when my wife and I could each carry a 10/22 and 1000rounds of ammo + gun oil and a rag.. Not great, but gives some long term security and food, plus the quieter report will lessen chances of contact.

The rest is just backpacking gear (tent, bag, light, firestarting, water treatment, utensils), Cold weather gear, wet weather gear, undergarments, socks, socks, socks & TP.

    Edit:
X2 on what Spanky said. Bug out is absolute last resort, and I can't think of a scenario where that is needed and I'm still alive. I am prepared for it though, just in case ;).

Still working on mine. One thing I noticed is a lack of rope in you guys' kits. You guys need more rope! I'm a paracord fanatic. Between my keychains, lanyards, bracelet, etc I carry probably 30' of paracord daily. Even more will go in my BOB.

And if you question the need for rope, I'd like to quote one of my favorite movies...

Connor: [picking out weapons and gear] Do ya know what we need, man? Some rope.
Murphy: Absolutely. What are ya, insane?
Connor: No I ain't. Charlie Bronson's always got rope.
    Murphy: What?
Connor: Yeah. He's got a lot of rope strapped around him in the movies, and they always end up using it.
Murphy: You've lost it, haven't ya?
    Connor: No, I'm serious.
Murphy: Me too. That's stupid. Name one thing you gonna need a rope for.
Connor: You don't ****in' know what you're gonna need it for. They just always need it.
    Murphy: What's this 'they' ****? This isn't a movie.
    Connor: Oh, right.
[picks up large knife out of Murphy's bag]
    Connor: Is that right, Rambo?
Murphy: All right. Get your stupid ****in' rope.
Connor: I'll get my stupid rope. I'll get it. This is a rope right here.

Also, LAPoliceGear just lowered their price on their small BOB to $19.99. For something quick or to keep in your vehicle, this looks like a GREAT bag. I plan on ordering a couple.
