I have done a bunch of parts sourcing for my friends in the past 6 months or so.

I have purchased complete uppers from the following compainies:
    JSE Surplus
    R Guns
    Red X Arms

    All were just fine.

Also purchased a few complete (minus lower) part sets from Jse surplus, and a bunch of parts from Jse, DSA, Red X, Palmetto, Surplus Arms and some that I am not thinking of. Most of these were mated to New frontier lowers. All yeilded a nice tight fit and all functioned as they should.

I also built a few for myself. I would suggest buying a matched upper and lower, or going with a company that is known to fit well with the lower you have. I hate a loose fit, and the surplus arms upper and lower I have are a loose fit. Now the spikes upper and lower fit well, and the JP upper with spikes lower fit well too. Also have a DTI lower with a oddball smooth side profile that fits well. Just trying to say you may want to test fit before you buy.

I am also a big fan of the current crop of free float tubes with seperate rail sections for 3,6,9 oclock mounting. I have a troy and a smason evo, I prefer the latter. If you plan to use one of those you can go with a stripped barrel, and a lo profile gas block. This may be easier to find that a std barrel right now, I dunno. I see that stripped upper receivers are in short supply...

Trying to do a build myself... Anyone know who has BCG's in stock? Looking for a good mil-spec, would prefer M-16... any thoughts? Everywhere appears to be sold out with no ETA, and Ebay is frickin' outrageous. It appears that barrels are coming back in stock this past week...
