Looks like this is the first post of the Spring.

Calcasieu Lake (Big Lake to locals) is starting to turn on with the early Spring bite. Birds are starting to work in Turner's bay on the north end and the east side is starting to clear. Specks are being caught on plastics under popping corks.

A few reds can be had on traditional baits in the shallows and near the scattered reefs.

The wind has been the deciding factor in the past week.

I don't know what all that means; but I think there was a swim advisory some wheres in that area last year. Call your local DHH office and ask them if there is any advisory in the area. I know in my area we have mercury advisories signs seems like they are posted at every boat launch in the area(Northshore) advising the elderly, young and pregnant to eat minimal amounts of the fish.
