Squirrels or armadillos. My neighbors put up a bird feeder in their yard and now the squirrels are EVERYWHERE and digging lil holes all over the place to bury their treasures.

I have just this but mine ARE FEED by my Date Palms. They also love to eat roof jacks that are lead and make roof leaks

Since I've lived here, I have seen squirrels on a daily basis, but I wouldn't think they could dig that deep (holes can be 6 or so inches deep), armadillos (haven't seen any in years but I've seen a pair play around one morning about 2 years ago by a neighbors front yard), and oppossums.

Never seen a raccoon around here but doesn't mean they don't exist. We have 100's if turtles that are the size of a foot ball. Sometimes they make it to my yard

Trail cam will end the mystery if you have access or can borrow one. Then again... it could be the first sign of a localized zombie attack so you should keep an eye out during the day as well. Could be those zombie squirrels with the little army helmets on that pop out the ground and attack the neighbor hood. Gotta shoot those buggers a few times to kill them.

Just kidding (I hope). Get a trail cam, define your perimeter, and claim your high ground. ;)

Definitely armadillo. We actually had the same problem at the range on the firing line. Little suckers dug holes everywhere.
Killed the food source and they went away.

Since you must live fairly close to English Turn, I say it's divots from drunk golfers.

The entire golf course is surrounded by water, So no drunk golfers in people's back yard. A buddy of mine told me about liquid fence, so I'm going to grab a bottle of that. I guess I need to find a good product for grub worms also.

You can catch them in a trap. Use potatos, apples, etc. as bait. Place the trap along a wall, fence, or other barrier that they like to travel along. They don't see very well so out in the open doesn't work as well.

Tallwalker is correct, they are almost blind and deaf. I never use bait for Armadillo as they feed on grubs. Couple of tactics you can use. Find the active burrow entry if you can. Obstruct it and watch for it being disturbed then put the trap directly over the entry point. Use 1x4 boards to "funnel" him into the trap if you need to.
Buy "Armadillo Scram" and or "Mole Scram" from Univar, make sure you water it in after you apply the granules, and mix it with Triazicide from Home Depot to cut down the food source.
It is late spring so there could be young ones around too.

Any tips for catching armadillos in the traps? I've got at least 1, maybe more that have been tearing my vegetable gardens and now yard up.

What tailwalker said, Put a 4x4 and make a V shape to the entrance of the trap, Put mulch over the bottom wire so that the dillo does not feel the wire, Sucker will walk right in it.

Put a can of sardines in the Hav A Heart trap, and sit back and wait, sardines will catch anything! Trust me!

We use the term "New Orleans" loosely where I live. I want to say we are only "orleans" for the tax money, otherwise we would be considered Plaquemines

Keep that chit in your Parish! But if you need to venture into Plaquemines, I'll make sure your name is added to the list!! I'm down in Jesuit Bend.
