Tried the bluegill this morning in the canal along Hwy 190 in Slidell and didn't do good at all. Caught two small bluegill using worms fished on the bottom. The morning started out rather cold at 48deg. then warmed up when the sun got over the trees. Hoped the bite would pick up when it warmed up some but no luck. The only one having a good day was the abandoned cat that found us and tried to eat my chum. I gave her the two small bream which she was appreciative of. Had a circle of life deal with the cat, she had a huge tick on her back between her shoulder blades. When she got used to us and came over for a scratch, I plucked off the tick and put the swollen bug on my hook and cast it out. That accounted for the second bream that she ate this morning. Tick eats on cat, tick used for bait to catch bream, bream feeds cat, circle of life. :-)

Why are you on the bottom? Fishing deep may be the ticket, but suspending the offering off the bottom at the right depth is the show.

Tried both bottom and suspended, no takers. As for the bottom rig, it is the same as a saltwater bottom rig, a split shot at the very bottom and a hook about a foot above to keep the bait just off the mud.
