Tonya Hunter, 51, a community activist in North Lawndale, was working on a freelance article about gun violence for the Chicago Defender just before the shooting occurred.

She asked one man to explain the difference between the sound of a gunshot and a firecracker. Just then, the shots broke out, Hunter said.

Any one else wondering with me, why this isn't a national news story? This level of violence? Some of the harshest gun restrictions? Repetitive black on black crime?

Where is the outrage? Where's the compassion? Where is the defenders of strict gun control? Why wouldn't people in middle America want to know what is happening in the 3rd largest city in America?

This is shameless! The corrupt media will advocate the wrongful prosecution of George Zimmerman, but look the other way on this?
