Hi Fellas. Stopped by Jim's today to see what they had new in there - and I noticed 5 or 6 ( of what looked to be ) Chicom Vietnam era SKSs on the rack. These guys were well worn, and could pass for battlefield pickups ( < but I doubt they were ). They were definitely Chinese (stamped triangle and all, mid / late 1960s ) & not Russian, and I saw no Russian mixed parts. They were $325 or so, .....a little too much for well worn. Anybody else see 'em?

those are the ones that have just been released from importation through albania and have been for sale from centerfire systems and other places. Look nasty but great shooters and some of the most high quality SKS around.

The story on these rifles is that they came out of Albania. They got them from
China in the early 60's before they started to produce their own sks's.
Looking at the serial numbers on the rifles dates them in the late 50's.
One of them had a six digit serial number which puts it in the first year of
    production for China, 1956.

    Wow - Type 56.

Interesting to ponder - that if any of these imported Albanian SKSs would have been arsenal refitted at some point (back in the day) with just a few Russian spare parts with Tula or Izhevsk markings (say a receiver cover, etc.), and recently skirted through to the US, would they be in violation of the (1996 Voluntary Restraint Agreement) ban on Russian SKSs? .....or borderline? ......or no big deal? I guess it would boil down to the semantics of the agreement.

The way I understand the impport laws if a firearm
From a banned country has been in another country
for a certain lenght of time it is ok to import.

I saw them as well. Well worn is putting it lightly. The bolt face on one of them was completely rusted to the firing pin. The price tag was kinda insulting but it is what it is.
