Is the climate changing over at the LSP Concealed Handgun Permit Unit? With 67516 permits issued since inception, they choose to mention the one incident involving a permit holder in the "INTRODUCTION" on page 1.

I really thought there would've been more that 67K permits issued.

Did'nt I see where they were blaming the backlog on the over 4,000 per month being received?

    Since inception:
    67519 Permits
    12/31/12 Last report
    04/19/96 First Report
    203 Months
    332 per month

    2012:
    14020 Permits
    12/31/12 Last report
    01/01/12 First Report
    12 Months
    1,152 per month

Something does not smell right here! are they receiving 2,852 applications a month that just Pile up in the corner and get forgotten about? Or are they backing up these 2,852 on top of the 4,000 they received last month. Our permits will likley expire before they get to open the mail! I was told last week when I called about my rewnewal, they have not begun to open mail from March. that could be 12,000 or 20% of the permits ever issued sittting on the floor.

I can't get mine till the beginning of next year and this is exactly why I will be dropping mine off instead of mailing it in :)

67,500 permits issued, 2400 denials = 3.6% chance of denial. Pretty good odds. I always wondered what the denial rate was, and the report gives, as well, as every reason why they were denied. Pretty good report.

There's a 0% chance of denial if you don't lie or make a clerical error.

I'd bet clerical errors account for 3.5% of those denials.

I talked to a guy a few days ago who overlooked the checkboxes on the military service part of the application. Needless to say his was returned, then resubmitted, and most likely ended up at the back of the line adding additional weeks of waiting.
