When is this madness going to stop :(

    http://www.courant.com/news/connect...dgun-permit-foi-0104-20130103,0,6372731.story

The names and addresses of about 170,000 handgun permit holders in Connecticut, now kept confidential by law, could be made public under a proposed bill that pits gun owners against would-be reformers in the aftermath of the Dec. 14 Newtown school massacre. The bill, introduced by Rep. Stephen D. Dargan, D-West Haven, co-chairman of the legislature's public safety committee, would make public the names and addresses of permit holders under Connecticut's Freedom of Information Act — and would reverse lawmakers' decision to protect that personal information from disclosure nearly two decades ago.

If you suggested to these liberal idiots that you were going to publish a list of what books they read and magazines they subscribe to, what movies they rent and what sexual aides they use in the bedroom, what internet blogs they peruse and what sites they buy from, the sky would fall. Yet somehow, they don't see how measures like this are just as intrusive, or more to the point actually dangerous.

I think maybe there should be a push to give them all of what they ask for. If you want to know who's got a gun, then make it fully legal and encourage people to open carry there. Watch how that stops them if you tie one to the other.

Gary L. Rose, chairman of the Department of Government and Politics at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, is correct Home and Motor Vehicle ownership is a privilege not a right. So public records are not protected. Gun ownership is a right protected by the Constitution. So if it is okay to post gun owners info then we should be able to post info on where Muslims live, practice their religion, along with a map and address. Any other religion and organization would be susceptible to the same treatment. He is opening a can of worms.

A strange twist to the saga

I would be mad as anybody over the publicising of my possession of a firearm. However here is a twist to the issue.
"Having a list of who has a gun is like gold - why rob that house when you can hit the one next door, where there are no guns?*

Cool, now the tables are turned on the other guys. Unprotected homes is like unprotected sex, maybe... maybe not.
Kinda like the guy who put the sign in his front yard stating he had a handgun but his neighbor did not. Rob him and I wont try to stop you. LOL

At least Louisiana addressed this in RS 40:1379.3.

    (2) Any information in any application for a concealed handgun permit or any information provided in connection with the application submitted to the deputy secretary of public safety services of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections under the provisions of this Section shall be held confidential and shall not be subject to any public records request nor shall the information be considered as a public record pursuant to R.S. 44:1 et seq. The Department of Public Safety and Corrections shall not release any list of persons who applied for or received a permit for a concealed handgun pursuant to this Section. However, nothing contained herein shall limit or impede the free flow of information between law enforcement agencies, prohibit the department from releasing information necessary to perform the background investigation, or provide statistical information which does not identify individual applicants or permittees.
