I plan to get a lawyer to create a trust for me to buy a silencer and maybe later on buy an sbr. For those who have a trust, can you tell me what the process is, what documents if any I need to bring to lawyer, cost, etc.,Thanks

PM JCcypress. It's way more painless than you think. I believe I paid $350 IIRC.

I only charged you that because I don't really like you. :D

Seriously, though, I charge $300 and have a reduced rate for active duty military and law enforcement. Anyone may feel free to PM or e-mail me and I will give you the rundown. I've done as much of the legwork as possible to make the process easy for my clients.

A friend just completed his trust application online via silencershop.com for $129 (simply purchase online with a credit card). It took maybe less than 10 minutes and all he had to do was print it out and have it notarized. It is good in 50 states. Now he is buying suppressors and is so excited. Very simple to do.

The ATF recently commented at the NRA Convention that there will be a big business in fixing the free or cheap fill in the blank trusts down the road. These "cheap and easy" trusts are on the ATF's radar. (I've already repaired trusts for folks that originally obtained them from attorneys who knew nothing about the NFA.)

Mouthpiece did my trust and I feel much more secure than had I gone the fill in the blank route. The experience was easy, professional and well worth the fee. And I have peace of mind knowing that I have a real lawyer standing behind my NFA purchases. :)
