Several years ago my Century rep called me to tell me he had a shipment of "cracked stock specials" to sell for $30 each, but he'd heard from customers that the stocks weren't necesarily cracked, but rather damaged some other way. He wouldn'r guarantee anything, and the stocks were probably cracked anyway, but that's what he was hearing. Now for David that was code for, "These are damned good rifles, and you'd be a fool to let them go!" I ordered 10. Well they came in, and sure enought they had no cracked stos or serious stock damage at all. Three were counter-bored, but even they were nice rifles. What was up was the stocks were unfinished. Here's one of them with a very unusual stock splice.

    Anybody seen one like this?

Similar to the finger joint splice the Finns used in their stocks. Remove the rifle from the wood and look at the markings, show a picture of the receiver please.
