I would like to find a full sized single stack 1911 chambered for .40 S&W. The only one I can find at this point comes from STI and costs too much for me. So if anyone knows of one made and less than $1000 please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Springfield used to make one. If you look hard enough, you may find one. Finding mags that work reliably, may be a problem.

What's your reason for it needing to be a .40? I don't want to instigate a caliber dispute, but with your limited choices the .45 might be just as cost effective.

I'd eventually like one too, all of my brass, dies, bullets, and other pistols are .40, which is why I would want one.

I'm set up to reload .40 S&W on my SDB Dillon. The 40 would still make major power factor in the single stack division of USPSA.

David, Kimber makes them every so often and their under a thousand. I think they are called the Target II. They do limited runs on Super, forty, and nine. I( bought the nine to shoot steel and it is a super pistol.

I think just about every 1911 manufacturer out there has made pistols chambered in .40SW. Most are smaller runs/custom orders, which is why they are a little harder to find. But they are definitely out there, and in all levels of quality and price. Just keep looking!
